About Me
Josia Peter Labes

Hey there!
I'm Josia, a 20-year-old from Berlin who created TreeUnity. I work as a Schienenfahrzeugelektriker (train electrician) for S-Bahn Berlin GmbH, which basically means I spend my days making sure trains run properly and fixing them when they don't.
Outside of work, I'm pretty much always working on some kind of project. I love tinkering on my website, managing servers, and lately I've been diving deep into language models. TreeUnity started as a hobby project and has grown into something I really enjoy maintaining and expanding.
I cycle to work every day to work, sometimes go swimming and work in maintainence. When I'm not working on my website or being on work, I'm usually playing games, watching series, or sometimes draw character art.
What I Do
Day Job
I work as a train electrician for S-Bahn Berlin, maintaining and repairing trains. It's good, steady work that keeps me busy and teaches me a lot about electrical systems.
Developing
I enjoy web development, server management, and working with APIs. Most of TreeUnity's systems, servers and tools are built either by me or self hosted.
LLMs
I've been experimenting with language models and AI integration. I use various open source projects that use apis or locally hosted models and I am planning on trying to build my own llm powered application.
Drawing
I like drawing character art digitally, especially for roleplaying characters.
Interests & Hobbies
When I'm not working or tinkering with my server, I have a bunch of interests that keep me busy. I'm a big fan of stories in all forms - whether it's games, movies, TV series, books, or text-based roleplay. There's something about good storytelling that really appeals to me.
Gaming
I play various games, from story-driven single-player experiences to multiplayer games with friends. Playing games together is how TreeUnity started, and it's still a big part of what we do.
Cycling
I cycle to work every day, which is both practical and enjoyable. It's nice to get some fresh air before and after work.
Text Roleplay
I participate in text-based roleplay, which combines my love of storytelling with creative writing. It's a collaborative form of storytelling that I find really engaging.
Why TreeUnity?
TreeUnity started as a Discord server for friends to hang out and play games together. Over time, it's evolved into something more - a place where people can share interests, help each other out, and work on cool projects together.
I'm not trying to build the next big social platform or anything like that. I just want to create tools and spaces that make it easier for friends to connect and collaborate. Whether it's a simple counter app or a complex AI assistant, everything I build is aimed at making our community a little bit more interesting and useful.
The whole project has been a great learning experience for me. I've learned a lot about web development, server management, and community building. Plus, it's satisfying to see people actually use and enjoy the things I've built.
Get in Touch
If you want to chat about programming, AI, community building, or just say hi, feel free to reach out. I'm always interested in meeting new people and learning about what others are working on.
